GHS IB Film
Film is a universal language. Our students learn the art of filmmaking by studying film history and watching/discussing films that represent the best in Editing, Cinematography, Sound Engineering, Directors, and Genres.
Using this knowledge, they tell their own stories in film. Our goal is to make our films as professional as possible.
Students create by working in groups to do a Pitch, Storyboard, Script, Filming, Editing and Sound Engineering.
Our students have, provided by Boosters and district, use of Professional Cameras, MAC computers with Industry Standard Editing Programs and Professional Lighting and Sound Equipment
The program began as a vision of Garland High School’s IB theatre and technical director Patty Schubert. In 2004, with the support of Principal John Morris and IB Coordinator Juanita Sacco, Patty applied and was accepted to be a part of the pilot program.

GHS Film Department staff makes it part of the job to maintain excellent repour with all film festivals in the area.
Hundreds of our student films have been officially selected to multiple film festivals, both local and international, since 2006.
